GINA MATCHITT

This artist is called Gina Matchitt, who is a New Zealand born artist from Rotorua, who's work is based upon her Maori culture. She uses patterns from her culture an makes it her own in her own different way.

Gina Matchitt used different kinds of material in this work she has done, using fine silver, laminated card, cigarette packaging, aluminium can and paua. She used these materials to form these kinds of symbols, like the religious cross, and the nike swooooosh logo, where she used the Paua shell.

I like Gina's work because looking through them is very eye catching. I like the way she used the Paua shell, how she layed them out to make a tick.
